Image of property

This house in South Co Dublin was originally constructed in the 1930s of solid wall construction and was extended during the early 1990s in cavity wall construction with 50mmm Standard EPS Insulation in conjustion with a 50mm cavity air space as was common practice at the time.

The home owners had struggles for years to keep their house warm and with the Irish Sea looking in over the rear of the house, draughts were also a constant battle so they first contacted our Insulation Suppliers Kingspan for advice on what measures they might be able to introduce to their home to reduce the expensive running costs.

The Solution

Having firstly surveyed the property in detail to establish the different wall types that existed as well as attic and flat roof insulation levels it was decided to proceed as follows. The original solid walls were Externally Insulated with 100mm of Kingspan Platinum Eps Insulation and finished with Powerwall Dry Dash White to the front of the property in keeping with the neighbouring homes and clients wishes.

The cavity wall sections were then pumped with 50mm of Kingspan Platinum Bonded Bead Insulation before these wall sections were also externally insulated with 100mm Eps Platinum Insulation and finished with Powerwall Sand Finish Acrylic to match the existing smooth finish. Finally the attic sections of the home had the existing 50mm of old mineral wool insulation removed before the installation of 125mm of Kingspan TP10 High Density Rigid Insulation.

Client Comments
